No Distance Records is delighted to be taking part in a new pop-up shop dedicated to independent musicians and labels.
Table Turners will run in Better Things in 8 Dartmouth Road, London, SE23 3XU, from Tuesday March 31 to Sunday April 5, and will be selling music and merch from acts and labels as far afield as Iceland, Mexico and Canada, as well as a plethora of local artists.
Aside from stocking vinyl, CDs, cassettes and other merchandise, the shop will also be hosting stripped-back performances from acts signed up to the project on Friday April 3 and Saturday April 4.
The initiative is the brainchild of music manager Mark Gee, who was inspired after manning a stall at a conventional independent record market.
Mark said: “We were pressed in amongst indie label giants and it was clear that attracting the attention of passers-by to our stall of deserving, talented artists was tricky.
“We did get some love though. And we turned a few heads. This spawned the idea of Table Turners.
“There are so many talented acts, both unsigned and on small labels, that deserve their moment in the sun. Table Turners is for these artists and labels but it’s also for music fans who are tired of being force fed algorithms and AI.
“Table Turners is for music lovers who want to discover something new for themselves.”
No Distance Records co-founder Owen Bennett said: “Table Turners is exactly what the grassroots music scene needs. We love record shops but it can be hard for true indie labels like us to catch people’s attention against the latest Oasis reissue or 25 different versions of Taylor Swift’s new record. This puts independent musicians and labels front and centre and I know people are going to buy stuff they’ll fall in love with.”
