Pop & Roll group The Schla La Las return after nearly 20 years

London’s favourite all-girl pop and roll band The Schla La Las are back and they’re out to have fun.

Celebrating 20 years since their first EP and 18 years after waving goodbye from the main stage at Truck festival, the original line-up, Piney, George, Katrin, Vee and Delia are high-kicking their way back into your heart and onto your stereo. And while they’re no longer coming for your first-born son, you might want to keep a close eye on your dad.

The Schla La Las were the darlings of the UK’s debauched indie rock scene in the 00’s, dazzling crowds with their matching outfits, close harmonies, and duelling guitars. They played up and down the country, from Leeds to Cornwall, and at festivals including Bestival, Blissfields, and Truck.

The group did a photo shoot with ID magazine alongside Florence Welch and Paloma Faith, were in the Sunday Times magazine with Beth Ditto, and played live radio sessions with Marc Riley on BBC 6 Music and more.

The years have passed, but they remain a vital force of high-octane pop and roll, inspiring a new generation of girls to pick up a guitar, bass, or pair of drumsticks, grab a microphone and let out a rebel yell all in perfect(ish) three-part harmony.

The fun all kicks off again with the release of ‘1234’ on Friday August 8, a tune that shows off The Schla La Las in all their punky, poppy, pounding glory.

Trust us, you’ve never seen a show like a Schlas’ show, and we can’t wait to see you back down the front.

No Distance Records chief Owen Bennett said: “Form is temporary, class is permanent, and The Schla La Las are in a class of their own. We’ve got some suitably ridiculous things planned with them, but first, get ‘1234’ pumping on your stereo for a little taste of the tour de force that is to come.”
