Leeds-based indie-pop group Tulpa have signed to No Distance Records to release their debut EP 'Dismantler' on limited edition cassette.
Tulpa make noise-pop with a sense of fun and experimentation, blending de-tuned guitars and sonic experimentation with sweet vocal melodies and crafted pop tunes.
What makes the cassette even more special is the B-side features a collection of songs not available on streaming sites. The tracks that make up 'Vantage' will only be heard by true fans of the band - and they are just as melodic and infectious as the songs on 'Dismantler'.
Formed in 2022, Tulpa is made up of Daniel Hyndman, Mike Ainsley and siblings Josie and Myles Kirk.
The group will be promoting the EP release with shows in Leeds, London and Europe.
Leeds launch gig - Friday September 27, New Headingley Club with Static Caravan and Cow Girl - tickets here
London show - Friday October 11, Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes with Rats-Tails and Milkman Jack - tickets here
“We're really looking forward to having these tracks out in the world. We have been sitting on them for what feels like a while. I think the sound will suit the cassette well and it'll be a nice physical thing to go alongside our first release, hopefully the first of many,” said Josie.
No Distance Records said: “It was love at first listen when we came across the songs on Spotify. These songs are perfect for cassette as they sound like something that should be on the C86 NME tape. We couldn’t live in a world where these tracks didn’t get a physical release and we’re so happy to be playing a role in getting this fantastic band some more attention.”
